We are proud to announce we have joined the ICO's "Your Data Matters" Campaign, and made a pledge to data protection
In recent years, the Information Commissioners Office (ICO) have been involved in global efforts to increase awareness about data protection. In August 2017, they found that only one in five members of the UK public, had trust and confidence in the way that their personal data was handled by companies/organisations.
Consequently, the huge task of reeducating the UK about the importance of personal data, began. Part of this was the launch of their campaign; Your Data Matters. The ICO website states this;
"The ICO aims to increase the public's trust and confidence in how their data is used and made available. The Your Data Matters campaign gives us the opportunity to achieve this goal by offering 'off the shelf' communications materials to organisations who share this goal."
Organisations across the UK have the ability to pledge their support for their customers or service user's data rights, and in doing so, join a public register.
By signing the pledge, an organisation is making a clear statement that it values the personal information entrusted to it.
At Point Progress, we share this goal, and wanted to take part in this campaign, in order to provide further assurance that our user's data is safe with us.
