The latest in the MP expenses scandal: Nadine Dorries under inquiry over expenses claims

The Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority has started investigations into the Mid-Bedfordshire MP, Nadine Dorries expenses claims.

She is suspected of being paid an amount under the MPs scheme of business costs and expenses that should not have actually been allowed.

The Parliamentary watchdog said it would have to investigate further into claims that were made for travel, subsidence and accommodation, but they were unable at this stage to comment until the investigation was concluded.

Dorries, who was voted the best MP on twitter in 2012, is an independent for Mid-Bedfordshire. She was the Tory MP of the constituency until she was suspended after not gaining permission to take time off during the filming of the jungle-based reality show I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here.

If she is found guilty, she could join the long list of MPs who have been publicly named and shamed for abusing the governments expenses system, some of who have been found guilty of writing their own cheques and falsifying receipts.

At MyExpensesOnline we like to believe people involved in expense related fraud are innocent until proven guilty so we will wait in anticipation for more news on the story.
